The crime continues

Crime continues on its out of control spiral and is having devastating effects on our towns residents, it’s time for the Chief Minister and Police Minister to explain what has changed for us since the introduction of the Social Order Response Team (SORT) in October and the deployment of an additional 40 frontline police officers in November.

Reports from Police on just a few matters:

Around 6:00pm yesterday, an occupant of a residence on Hong Street, Gillen, returned home to find 3 male offenders inside who had unlawfully entered the property. It is alleged that the occupant of the residence was threatened with an edged weapon before the offenders fled the scene in the occupant’s vehicle, a gold 2008 Subaru Forester.

At about 4:25am this morning, the occupant of a residence on Lovegrove Drive, Alice Springs, woke to find 3 male offenders inside who had unlawfully entered the property. It is alleged that the occupant of the residence was threatened with a number of weapons before the offenders fled the scene in the occupant’s vehicle, a silver coloured Toyota Hilux.

I’m told all the 24 hour access ATM’s were wrecked over the past few days with only those located within shops or shopping centres surviving.

Shoppers at K Mart were given the option of remaining inside the store for safety whilst a group of youth’s went on a rampage outside destroying the front of the shop.

The Chief Minister was on media yesterday explaining the programs they are implementing and how it will take generational change. The people of Alice Springs can’t wait that long. I put to the Chief Minister and Police Minister, what are you doing to ensure the safety of the people of Central Australia?

The reports of violence and break in’s are beyond belief.

Please provide an urgent update and reassure the people of Central Australia that you're doing everything you can to ensure their safety and wellbeing!

The Northern Territory Police, Southern Crime Squad are investigating a number of incidents:
