We need to be doing everything we can to support our Health Workers, the astronomical levels of crime are putting enormous stress on staff and impacting the department’s ability to recruit and retain staff.
We’re seeing many long-time residents packing up and leaving because of Labor’s Crime Crisis so it’s no wonder frontline health workers are among those getting out of town, our Nurses are at the coalface seeing the worst case outcomes of crime first hand, which is distressing enough, and then they finish a shift and fear for their own lives or become victims when they go home.
The worse the staff shortage gets, the more overworked the remaining staff become, pushing them beyond breaking point as well. Our Health Workers out in the bush are under enormous pressure as well with short staffing.
