WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Last night the Fyles Labor government wiped thousands of past crimes from the record of youth offenders and green-lighted all crime, no matter how serious, for under 12s.
Labor refused to answer critical questions with 79 attempts made by the Opposition.
This is what we uncovered:
- every youth offender under 17-years-old will have their criminal record expunged for offences committed when under the age of 12
youth offenders under the age of 12 can not be held criminally responsible no matter how serious the offence is
- if a youth offender under 12 is in prison they will be let out
- if a youth offender under 12 is before the courts the case will be dropped
- any requirement for a youth offender under 12 to pay restitution to their victims will be wiped
- police cannot arrest or charge a youth offender under 12 no matter what the crime
After avoiding the questions by calling them ‘hypothetical’ and using standing orders 33 times, the Fyles government finally admitted this is a free-for-all for youth criminals. Labor has sent a dangerous message to them, telling them to go their hardest because there won’t be any consequences.
It’s also insulting to police to say they can still investigate crimes but cannot arrest or charge someone for those crimes.
The Country Liberal Party voted against these laws that put the rights of criminals above the rights of victims. If elected in 2024 - we will reverse this law.
